During the Telluride Technology Festival in August of 2005 the converted Toyota Tacoma built by Tai Robinson was tested in a drive to the top of Bridal Veil falls, only a few miles from the town of Telluride, Colorado. Here at over 10,400 feet above sea level we found proof of the truck's ability to perform off road. It was a beautiful sunny day in August and shorts were the outfit of the day. The rugged terrain required only a short learning curve to get the feel for the prototype engine's toughest test thus far. With the confidence gained from this drive, we made plans for an attempt on Imogene Pass. Climbing more than 4500 feet from Telluride's historic Tomboy Road and passing through the mining ghosttown of Tomboy itself, this would be the ultimate proof of Hydrogen's suitability for fueling a truck in the rocky mountain region.
